MaxEPA group and by about 47% in the EPA and DHA groups as compared to the SAT group (fig. 7). It is worthy to note that changes were
observed only at the level of coagulation factors dependent on vitamin
K. This dependency was corroborated by the observation of a restoration of FIIc and FVII-Xc activities in the MaxEPA group when vitamin
K was administered by injection or addition to the diet (Andriamampandry et al., 1998). These results imply that dietary fish oil enriched
in long-chain (n-3) fatty acicls specifically influenced the vitamin
K-dependent synthesis of coagulation factors in the liver.
