20.2.11.3 Amar Sagar
Amar Sagar (Plate 20.56 ) is situated in the
Amarpur subdivision of Gomati District in the
province of Tripura. It is an artifi cial tank, which
is said to have been constructed by the monarchs
of Tripura. The lake (commonly called ‘Sagar’ in
Tripura) is, possibly, leased out to private parties
for fi shing. This lentic body is home to many
wetland birds. Phytoplankton is usually dominated by the desmids.

Udaipur
Udaipur Lake (Plate 20.57 ) is an artifi cial tank
(commonly called ‘lake’) situated at Udaipur
town in Gomati district. It was said to be made by
the then monarchs of Tripura. The water study
revealed pH 7.4, DO 6.2 mg/l, FCO 2 1.3 mg/l and
TA 82 mg/l. There is abundance of chlorophytes
and cyanophytes. The wetland is home to many
aquatic birds.
