3.1.3 Wastewater from Industry and Tourism
Nitrogen pollution from industry is low. However, industrial wastewaters are
important sources for pollution from compounds other than nitrogen, notably
hydrocarbons and solvents which cause toxic pollution for soil, groundwater, and
for the population.
Pollution from tourism is not yet a problem, but waste generation and sewage
from tourism could contribute to local pollution hot spots in the future, if
wastewaters and solid wastes are improperly disposed of.
