with Grignard reagent, and gas chromatographic analysis using flame photometric
detection. Recoveries from fish samples spiked at 0.2 and 1.0 mg kg-I were 80-104 %
(i. e. 92 ± 12 %) for tri-n-butyltin and 92-105 % (i. e. 98 ± 6 %) for di-n-butyltin.
The detection limit for both compounds was 0.2 mg kg-I. The levels determined in
reared yellowtail fish were similar for both flame photometric detection gas chromatography and gas chromatography mass spectrometry.
