central and south eastern part of the surveyed area. The NE monsoon period has higher
numerical values for the species off the Arabian coast. On the whole the average number
per haul is 1.4 times greater during the NE monsoon.
14. Sagitta regularis (AIDA, 1897)
(Figs. 13 a and 13 b)
Size at maturity varies from 4.8-6.0 mm. Stumpy forms of this species (3.2-3.6 mm)
are encountered in a few samples. Such stumpy forms were obtained from 14 stations,
all located towards the coast (south of the Indian Peninsula, west coast of India, near
