average the SW monsoon period has a population density 1. 7 times greater than in the
NE monsoon period. The maximum density of S. pacifica during the SW monsoon covers
large areas, while during the NE monsoon maximum density was noted as isolated
patches. In both periods the values were very low in the northern Arabian Sea.

This is not a very common species, the percentage range of abundance being 0 -1.2.
Isolated patches are observed near Somalia (280 per std. hau!), Gulf of Aden, near Arabia
