70 mg /kg body-weight inorganic iodine (ENDOJODINl) and 3 mg/kg
body-weight dipyridamol (PERSANTIN2), applied 12 hrs and 1 hr before the start of the investigation; 6 dogs were used as controls. The amounts of substrate were measured under three different conditions:
(1) during normally functioning circulation; (2) after 40 min of ischemia
and (3) after 100 min of ischemia followed by a 15 min period of recirculation in the transplant. The kidneys to be transplanted were perfused with
500 ml of Calorose-solution containing 2 % glucose, 2 % mannitol, 0.4 %
procaine and 800 i. u. of heparin. (The homologous and heterotopic transplants were located in the fossa iliaca.)

Results: The dephosphorylation processes after the interruption of blood
supply were similar to those in rabbit kidneys. The decrease of ATP
occurred quickly; simultaneously a steep increase in AMP was recorded.
Glycolytic activity developed only slowly, the inorganic phosphate increased. Following 100 min of ischemia and a subsequent 15 min recirculation period in the transplant, resynthesis of high-energy phosphates
