The ratio of the transported suspended matter discharges in the delta arms differs from water
discharges. More than 85% of the sediment load is transported along the Kamennaya branch at
the delta head. About 2% is transported to the Selivanovskaya branch and about 17% to the
Poperechnaya branch. A characteristic feature of the sediment load discharge regime in the
Kolyma delta, found during the expeditions in the 1930s and the 1950s is an approximate
equality of the water turbidity values measured simultaneously along the length of the
Kamennaya branch. This feature was used for data parameterizing in hydraulic calculations of
the water and channel regime of the Kolyma delta (Piskun, 1992). Table 5 presents the
calculated values of sediment load discharges in the main delta arms at the channel-forming
water discharge in the Kolyma river equal to 23600 m 3 /s and mean navigation sea level. The
suspended sediment load discharges were determined as a product of water turbidity prescribed
from actual data at the entry to the calculation area, and the calculated water discharges in the
arms. The bottom sediment load discharges were determined as a fraction of the suspended
