12.7 Post-processing
The output from the oceanographic models is normalIy accessible after 5 to 6
hours from the start of the forecast run and then immediately distributed to the
marine forecast department, where it is transformed into various products, like ship
routing and flood wamings. The Coast Guard receives currents and surface winds
for their oil-drift models and for assistance in emergency situations. To easily
access alI model results, a WEB-oriented system (OceanView) has been developed.
This also includes an easy downloading system, which is of particular value for the
HIROMB partners. An example of a real-time validation of the model results
through OceanView is shown in Fig. 12.5.
