from the instrument and thus be only moderately effected by the ship's effect on the atmospheric wind field. A large test series is now made within the framework of the Baltic Sea
Experiment (BALTEX), a regional subprogramme of the GEWEX, where several optical probes are mounted on ferry boats which are operationally crossing the Baltic sea.
