A5: Fauna monitoring: Monitoring of the biological diversity, of the state of
conservation of the salvage and domestic fauna (including local races), and endemic
and/or threatened species (the unlisted).
A6: Water resources monitoring: Water availability monitoring (streaming, storage,
rains infiltration, useful water for vegetation, ... )
A 7: Socio-economic monitoring and uses follow-up: Follow-up of the evolution of
the activities of the human population having an effect on the observatory and their
socio-economic conditions; follow-up of the uses; follow-up of the demography and
migrations.
A8: Monitoring ofland management and conflicts: Monitoring of the types of rights
and conflicts associated with the space and use of the main natural resources and
modes of space management.
B. Analysis, interpretation and synthesis of information-study of
mechanisms
B I: Impact of climatic evolutions on the environments: Study of interactions
between the evolution of climatic data and the state of the physical surroundings
(vegetal cover, states of soils surface, hydric assessment of soils, ... ).
B2: Impact of human activities on the environments: Study of the impact of different
uses (biological and land resources utilisation systems) and their evolutions on lands
degradation and the evolution of physical surroundings.
B3: Study of interactions between the ecological systems (resources) and the social
systems (uses): Namely within the framework of diverse economic models and
statistical analysis of data.
B4: Setting up and/or experimentation of information systems on environment at
local level, and approach methodologies on the mechanisms of desertification
B5: Study of the dynamics of reference ecosystems, farming systems and populations
Namely with regard to these disfunctionings to which they are subjected, and the
determination of the irreversibility thresholds of these systems.
c. Elaboration of support products in decision-making and
development
co: Environmental data bases and metabases: Storage and harmonizing of the data
collected in the field by the observatory teams and by associate partners,
meteorological services and satellite data.
C I: Support to the elaboration of the management plan of natural resources
From data production and analysis, definition of the conditions of an optimal
efficiency for the use and management of natural resources, function to the
biological potential and the dynamics of the ecological systems taken together.
C2: Support to the restoration and management of vegetal and animal species and
ecosystems
From data production on the state of conservation of natural resources and their
trends towards change, proposal of rational solutions for their restoration in
particularly disrupted ecosystems.
C3: Environmental studies accompanying development projects
