Temperature (Fig. 5.4a,b) shows typical seasonal pattern reaching values between
25 and 26° C in the Austral summer (Jan.-Mar., days 1 through 90). In winter temperature is around 10° C. In terms of longitudinal distribution small differences are found
between northern and southern portions with temperature decreasing southwards.
This is a latitudinal effect that can be also noticed through satellite images (Ghisolfi
1995). The water column tends to be homogeneous along the whole lagoon but a thermocline associated with entrance of saltier and colder coastal waters may be developed in the channel area.
