Family: Ranidae
Common name: Green frog.
Distribution: Throughout most of
western, central, and eastern Europe
(Kuzmin et al., 2014).
Habitat: Wetlands such as ponds, channels, ditches, and slow-moving rivers
and stream.
Description: In this hybrid species,
dorsal coloration is grayish green,
olive-green, or green with dark spots
that vary in size and number. A light
middorsal line from snout to cloaca is
usually present. There is no temporal
spot. Belly is light, usually with dark
spots. Male vocal sacs are positioned
behind the mouth angles and are gray.
It is a smooth-looking frog (rarely has
a warty appearance) and has longer
legs than its part ancestor the pool frog
(Kent Reptile and Amphibian Group).
