Limnonectes leporinus Andersson 1923
Order: Anura
Family: Dicroglossidae
Common name: Giant river frog.
Distribution: Endemic to Borneo; Brunei, Kalimantan (Indonesia), and Sabah
and Sarawak (Malaysia) (Inger et al.,
2004.)
Habitat: Along the banks of small
to large rocky streams in hilly rain
forest.
Description: Limnonectes is a genus of
fork-tongued frogs collectively known
as fanged frogs because they tend to
have unusually large teeth, which are
small or absent in other frogs. In this
species, pectoral girdle is firmisternal.
Sternum is moderately to strongly
bifurcate posteriorly. Vomerine teeth
are present. The tadpoles develop in
quiet side pools of streams.
