Family: Dicroglossidae
Common name: Chinese edible frog,
East Asian bullfrog, Taiwanese frog,
Chinese bullfrog.
Distribution: From central, southern,
and southwestern China, including
Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau to
Myanmar through Thailand, Lao
People’s Democratic Republic, Vietnam,
and Cambodia south to the Thai-Malay
Peninsula (Diesmos et al., 2014).
Habitat: Paddy fields, irrigation infrastructure, fishponds, ditches, floodplain
wetlands, forest pools, and other wet
areas.
Description: It is a large, heavybodied species with distinct ridges
in the dorsal skin. It grows to a size
of 12  cm in snout-vent length. Body
is olive-brown or gray. Legs are powerful, and feet are fully webbed.
Underside is cream, sometimes with
dark spotting. Females are larger
than males. They are primarily insectivores (Naturalist.org; Reptiles and
Amphibians of Bangkok).
