Common name: Striped catfish.
Distribution: Asia: Mekong, Chao
Phraya, Maeklong Basins (Sampang,
1999a).
Habitat: Riverine freshwater.
Description: Body of this species is long
and latterly flattened with no scales.
Head is relatively small. Mouth is broad
with small sharp teeth on jaw, vomerine,
and palatal bones. Eyes are relatively
large. Two pairs of barbels are seen, and
the upper is shorter than the lower. Fins
are dark gray or black. There are six
branched dorsal fin rays. Gill rakers are
normally developed. Body is uniformly
gray, but sometimes with a greenish
tint and sides silvery. A  dark stripe is
noticed on the middle of the anal fin
and in each caudal lobe. This species
can reach a maximum size of 130 cm
(Rainboth, 1996).
