Description: Males of this species are
slightly larger than the females and have
a bright orange-red body with turquoise
blue vertical stripes that extend into the
fins. Dorsal fin of the male is pointed
in contrast to the rounded dorsal of the
female. Females remain a duller silvery
blue-gray color, never achieving the
brilliant colors of the male. Many color
hybrids exist, including blue–powder

This species reaches a maximum length

Description: Body of this species is
laterally compressed. Anterior portion
of the body is deep, gradually tapering
into a slender caudal peduncle. Opercle
is partially scaled, and a single spine is
present on the posterior margin. Caudal
fin is forked. This species has a yellow
to brass-colored body and distinct pattern, consisting of five to nine olivegreen vertical bars, triangular in shape,
on each side. Its fins are lighter in coloration, with an orange hue on the margins. This species reaches a common
length of 35 cm and 1 kg.
