Description: This species gets its name
from the two spots along each side of
its body in line with the eye, which is
considered the third spot. Median fins
and pectorals are brown, and ventrals
are yellowish. Mouth is very small and
very oblique. Upper jaw is vertical and
somewhat protractile and lower jaw
is prominent. Lateral line is curved
and irregular. Caudal fin is slightly
emarginate or truncate. Color when
alive is brown. Shoulders possess
irregular dark marks. Opercles and
thorax are yellowish. A black spot is
seen in the middle of the side and at
the caudal fin base. Body has numerous narrow irregular oblique bars.
Blue gouramis are among those fish
that possess a labyrinth organ, which
allows them to breath air directly.
It reaches a maximum length of 15 cm
(Capuli, 1991).
