Common name: Mottled loach.
Distirbution: Asia: Pakistan and China
(Reyes, 1993a).
Habitat: Clear water; swift-flowing
streams with rocky, pebbly, and sandy
bottoms.
Description: This species is without
a suborbital flap in the male, and this
flap is replaced by a suborbital groove.
Lateral line reaches at least to the anus.
It is a beautiful, slender, and elongated
fish with a decorative pattern, especially as a juvenile. It has a grayish
green background color with a lighter,
whitish belly. Dark blotches are seen on
the sides and top. Dorsal and tail fins
have stripes made up of dark spots.
Under great care in an aquarium, it
can also have an orange-red cast to its
fins. It reaches a maximum size of only
12 cm (Reyes, 1993a; Animal-world).

Distribution: Northern parts of South
Asia (Allen, 2012).
Habitat: Flowing and clear standing
waters; rivers, beels, and streams.
Description: This species has a rounded/
truncate caudal fin. A scaleless patch is
seen on top of head. Flanks have spotted patterning in females and a solid,
dark  lateral  stripe  in males. Caudal fin
possesses dark,  reticulated  markings.
A black spot is present at the base of the
caudal fin. This species reaches a maximum length of 10.4 cm (Galib, 2013).
