Habitat: Flowing hill streams with
rocky beds; shallow and fast-flowing
waters; deeper, slower waters.
Description: This species has a broad
body (width 17.3–22.1% SL). The last
dorsal spine is not serrated. Dorsal and
pelvic fin rays are branched. There are
12–13 predorsal scales. Dorsal fin base
length is 34.0–39.7% SL. There are seven
scale rows between the dorsal fin origin
and lateral line. Many horny tubercles
are found scattered on each side of the
snout tip, which extends posteriorly to
the region below the anterior margin of
the orbit. This species has a maximum
length of 18.5 cm (Garilao, 1995c).
