Family: Cyprinidae
Common name: Stracheyi mahseer,
blue mahseer, waterfall carp.
Distribution: Asia: Myanmar through
Thailand, Cambodia, and Vietnam
(Luna, 1988o).
Habitat: Clear forested streams and
rivers; swift-flowing streams.
Description: This species has nine
branched dorsal fin rays and a black
lateral stripe. The last simple dorsal ray
is smooth and nonosseous. On the side
of the snout and below the eye, there
is a large patch of tubercles. Post-labial
groove is found interrupted medially.
Color when alive is bronze back and
silvery belly. This species has a maximum length of 60 cm (Luna, 1988o).
