Common name: Ticto barb, firefin barb,
tic-tac-toe barb, two-spot barb.
Distribution: Pakistan, India, Nepal, Sri
Lanka, Bangladesh (Dahanukar, 2010c.)
Habitat: Mostly montane and submontane regions, and floodplains.
Description: Mouth of this species
is small and it is terminal in position.
Barbels are absent. Depth of the body
is less than one-third of the standard
length. The ticto barb is silver and gold
with two black spots, one just before the
pectoral fin and one near the back tail.
This species grows to a maximum size
of only 10 cm (Bashar, 2011).
