Labeo boggut Sykes 1839
Order: Cypriniformes
Family: Cyprinidae
Common name: Boggut labeo.
Distribution: Asia: Pakistan, India, and
Bangladesh (Bailly, 1997f).
Habitat: Upper reaches of rivers, ponds.
Description: Body of the species is
elongated and slender with a more
convex dorsal profile than the ventral
profile. Snout and lips are thick. Mouth
is moderate. There is one pair of short
maxillary barbels. Pectoral fins are as
as long as the head and do not extend to
pelvic fins. Caudal fin is deeply forked.
Body is silvery and darkest on back.
Fins are orange in color. A dark spot
is seen near the base of the caudal fin.
This species reaches a maximum size of
29 cm and 350 g (Fahad, 2011d).
