We did not carry out such experimental work. However, we are studying the effects of re-injecting
digester gas.

As it is known that sulphate could be toxic to the methane process, why did the authors not
consider the possibility of a two stage system of treatment as reported at the Second International
Conference for the Continuous Cultivation of micro-organisms" held in Prague in 1962?

A double stage system is possible; but so far, we have not carried out a'ny trials concerning its
technical and economic interest.

Could the organic matter in the distillery waste be used as animal feed instead of destroying it?

Experimental and industrial trials confirmed the possibility of using the waste as animal feed.
However, after fermentation and separation of suspended solids, there will remain a liquid effluent to
be treated.
