In order to overcome this limitation a modification was introduced for the Alexander
Stream case. One of the three parameters in equation (3), i.e. the total organic BOD load
L Q , was determined by the conventional laboratory method and subsequently introduced
into the equation (3) which was transformed into an equation with two unknowns
instead of three. When feeding the computer program with the data of Fig. 3 and the
laboratory determined datum, L Q , satisfactory results were obtained.
These tests were run during October 1970 at the Vitkin bridge (station B) and the
following values of the various oxygen balance parameters were obtained:L o
