3.4 Fish Genes
Cloning of various fish genes, including those associated with production of
bioactive substances, have resulted in the identification of their structure, speculation on their functions from amino acids, and gene functions. Table 3.1 shows the
number of fish base sequences registered with the Gene Bank database as of January
1, 2013. The largest number come from the Channel catfish (Ictalurus punctatus)
and Rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) followed by Zebrafish (Danio rerio),
