StratoStar specializes in using weather balloons in education. Balloon projects
incorporate STEM education lessons and can be customized to any curriculum.
The team at StratoStar helps educators run the program, making project-based
learning easy for the school and students. It has run projects at the grade school,
high school, college, and graduate levels. Because each program is unique it is
possible for students of all ages to learn a wide variety of lessons including life
skills such as teamwork, collaboration, and critical thinking. A weather balloon
offers students a unique opportunity to be involved in a near-space project. The
intent of this experience is to excite them with the specific project, and interest
them in a possible future in STEM.

10.4 YOUTHFUL ENTREPRENEURS
Some students have taken their stratospheric balloon education to the next level by
sending objects to the edge of space and then marketing them.
Earth to Sky Calculus is one group of youths doing cutting-edge science in the
stratosphere 30 km (100,000 ft) above our heads. Several times per month they
send their experiments aloft on helium balloons to search for new life forms at that
