pile wood used in the Bajo tribe houses generally uses local wood with the use
of round wood that still has skin.
(6) Aspects of Utilizing Coastal Resources (SDP) Mangrove Forests. Adaptation
of Coastal Resources (SDP) is a form of economic strategy through the use of
SDPs to produce various economically valuable commodities without requiring
fishing. One potential resource is mangroves. Cultivation under mangrove stands
with silvofishery pattern, namely the integrated use of mangroves between
economic and ecological interests in terms of developing aquaculture is very
potential to be developed so that the use of mangroves for possible economic
interests will be widely developed. The development of mangrove areas is
intended to maintain the economy of fishermen who experience shocks due to
the effects of climate change in coastal areas. Because, in certain conditions in
the area of mangrove cultivation, this can still provide fishery products with high
economic value as well as substitution commodities to cover daily necessities of
life, which benefit the Bajo fishermen such as mangrove crabs or others, especially when the impact of climate change is coming. The tools used to search
for crabs are certain crab and bait nets. Searching for crabs in the mangrove
area tends to be safer, not too weather dependent and does not require large
production costs. The search for mangrove crabs is also an alternative pattern
of adaptation carried out by Bajo fishermen when weather conditions are not
possible or uncertain to go to sea.
(7) Increased Aspects of Human Resources. The pattern of adaptation of the allocation of Human Resources especially household members is a form of economic
strategy that is very important in saving the economy of fishermen affected by
climate change. This strategy includes the optimization of household workforce
and the development of a double income pattern. The development of this dual
livelihood strategy is intended to ensure that the fishermen/Bajo people do not
depend on the results of the capture. This needs to be done because the limited
facilities available cause fishermen not to be able to go to sea all year long.
Based on the summary results of the description of the conditions of the Bajo
people and the occurrence of climate change, as a form of concrete solutions in
providing support capacity for them and their environment to adapt and defend from
the effects of extreme climate change that occurs. Because, understood together
that climate change caused by extreme weather factors has had a big impact on the
productivity of catches due to the inactivity of the Bajo fishermen. Reduced fish stocks
and the difficulty in determining fishing areas cause economic losses for coastal/Bajo
fishermen when forcing them to do activities at sea, but the results obtained are
not worth the production costs incurred. The risk of high seas due to the threat of
increasing storms and extreme waves causes a reduction in the frequency of Bajo
tribe fishermen looking for catches, which then also impacts on economic conditions.
Whether they want it or not, the Bajo people have to look for other alternatives to
sustain and defend their lives from the threat of climate change that is happening at
this time. Thus, an economic strategy is needed to enable fishermen/Bajo families
to obtain additional income through the exploitation of household labor and a dual
