Dibenzothiophene:
4-methyldibenzothiophene:
4,6-dimethyl dibenzothiophene:
4-ethyl, 6-methyl-dibenzothiophene:
The most difficult sulfur compounds to desulfurize are the substituted
dibenzothiophenes, especially those where the substituent is adjacent to the sulfur
atom, in the 4- position or in the 4- and 6- positions for the case of double
substitution. These compounds, such as 4-methyldibenzothiophene and
4,6-dimethyldibenzothiophene and similar structures, present the most difficult
compounds to desulfurize.
