welded, type of filler rod to be used, joint tolerances, heat treatment, values of welding
parameters during each stage of welding and other details.
It is imperative to ensure the correctness of this document for which, the assessment of joint quality is performed next, as shown in Fig. 8.4. This document is referred
as “procedure qualification record” (PQR), and it consists of results of several quality
testing techniques for assessment of the joint performance. This includes destructive
techniques, such as tensile testing, hardness, toughness, bend, and non-destructive
techniques as well. A picture of this document has been shown in Fig. 8.6. On the
basis of the obtained results, the optimized parameters are finalized and documented
in the WPS. After successful implementation of these two documents, “procedure
management” is performed on-site on a regular basis. The procedure management
