test sections can accommodate a wide range of full-scale objects: engine inlets, wing
section, landing gear, weapon systems, etc. State-of-the-art instrumentation makes it
possible to evaluate the effectiveness of the de-icing systems subject to certification,
as well as to highlight the consequences of any malfunction that is detrimental to
flight safety.
The IWT was designed to replicate the cloud conditions specified in the icing
