the surface temperature and the pressure. The temperature increases the irradiative
deactivation rate and results in a lower intensity. The active molecules are embedded
in a matrix controlling the diffusion of oxygen in the paint, silicone polymers being
often used because of their high permeability (see Fig. 9.12).
The PSP coating, which additionally includes a screen layer and a tie-layer, must
be smooth, uniform and adhere perfectly to the surface (see Fig. 9.13).
