The jets can be coupled in order to exploit the acoustic characteristics of supersonic
jets in flight conditions in the set-up shown in Fig. 3.39a. The flow from the supersonic
nozzle acts as the primary jet and a secondary jet is generated by the subsonic nozzle
in the conditions similar to that of the turbofan engines.
