7.17.3 IR Imaging
Thermography and thermal imaging is a useful way to detect abnormal blood
circulation near the skin’s surface. Fevers, inflammations, loss of blood circulation,
and even subcutaneous tumors can show in infrared images of patients. Figure 7.16
shows a hot spot within a breast visible by the IR radiation from the skin.
