20.4.2.4 Field Experimental Setup
The groundwater data were measured by 98 monitoring wells installed with a
distance of 50–100 m and depth of 2.5–3 m. About 58 out of the 98 monitoring
wells were installed in Jajangkit canal, whereas the rest 40 monitoring wells were
installed in Ulin canal. During the study, the surface water level data were measured
using six water level meters installed in the canal course with four measurement
meters placed at the Jajangkit canal and the remaining two measurement meters
installed at Ulin canal.
Schematic distribution of the groundwater wells and surface water level meters in
Jajangkit and Ulin canals is shown in Figs. 20.7 and 20.8.
20.4.2.5 Analysis of Canal Blocking Impacts
The canal blocking impacts on the hydrological dynamics were investigated through
spatial and temporal variations. Spatial investigation was conducted by comparing
the hydrological behaviors between Jajangkit canal (blocked area) and Ulin canal
(unblocked area), including the areas affected by the canals. Further, temporal
investigation was carried out by dividing the measurement period into three seasonal
conditions based on daily rainfall. The three conditions include the dry season (24th
of September 2018 to 5th of October 2018), the transitional season from dry to the
