rainy season (8th of October 2018 to 7th of November 2018), and the rainy season
(9th of November 2018 to 20th of December 2018).
Hydrological parameters used to predict the impacts of canal blocking on the
behavioral changes of the hydrological dynamics comprise groundwater table,
surface water level, and correlation between the surface water and groundwater
levels. Both ground and surface water levels were analyzed using descriptive
statistical parameters such as range and average as well as the maximum and
minimum value. The correlation between variables was calculated using Pearson
correlation method to justify how well and strong the relationship of those parameters. If the relationship between the groundwater and surface water levels is positive
it means that the increase in surface water level will also bring about an increase in
groundwater table and vice versa.

20.4.3.1 Peatland Characteristics and Microtopography
Based on the result of peat depth measurement, it is found that on average peat depth
both in Jajangkit and Ulin canals is less than 30 cm. Furthermore, some peat layers
have been lost and the mineral soil underneath was exposed due to the depletion of
peat layer. The remaining medium peat (with depth about 2 m) only existed in block
