developed by Midori Engineering Laboratory Co., Ltd. and supported by WSL-MTI,
consists of a parent unit and multiple child stations (Fig. 3.22), each with sensors to
measure GWL, soil moisture content, temperature, and rainfall, among others, with
each dataset measured at 10-min intervals. The datasets are then transmitted to the
parent unit via wireless communication, and the parent unit further sends the datasets
to an internet server using a satellite-based communication and stores those in a
database. Each dataset on the server can be viewed through the web site (Fig. 3.23).
The parent unit was placed on top of a 25-m-high tower, while the child stations
were distributed evenly over the target area. It should be noted that the WSL covers
an area with a 6.5 km radius and the MTI covers an area with a 3 km radius
(Fig. 3.24).
