to find out the variations in the severity level of dilapidated buildings for the selection of most accident prone buildings in Borough II of KMC. The selection of this
locality is due to highest percentage share of dilapidated buildings. Among nine
wards of this Borough, five KMC identified dilapidated buildings are selected from
each ward and hence the study proceeds based on the housing condition of total 45
old dilapidated buildings. For this, Dilapidation Index is used which is determined
based on certain selected indicators (Table 7.1) that directly influence the dilapidation process. Buildings having high Dilapidation Index will be in severe condition
and are meant to be repaired as soon as possible.
