• Usage of bucket baths instead of showers.
• Recycled water for cleaning purposes.
2.2 Indirect Footprint Reduction
• Reduction in the consumption of meat products.
• Reduction in the consumption of less water-intensive food and looking forward
to season one.
Minimize the usage of harmful chemicals for personal care and cleaning. Human
daily activities are causing a momentous impact on the scarcity of available freshwater in the form of an increase in the water pollution level in various forms, and
famine to a frightening extent where the future generation will be in a position where
the cost of water would be really expensive. These environmental and social issues
can only be resolved by contemplating and examining every production step. Hoekstra and Chapagain were among the first few who introduced the concept of WFP
which helps in the visualization and identification of hidden water usage in any sector
or specific unit and helps in estimating the effects of consumption and trade exchange
of water resource. Improvisation and better interpretation of the underlying concepts
of water footprint network can form an important basis for the best management and
sustainable development of the globe’s freshwater resources.
3 Water Footprint Concept
Calibrating the water footprint concept and taking all the required steps to reduce and
to keep that level as minimum as possible is extremely important for the environment.
The water footprint concept compels us to anticipate indirectly and its embedded
water consumption patterns which may occur soon before it’s too late. In that sense,
water is no longer simply local but tending towards dependent on the global market.
There is a desperate requirement of a balance between availability and usage because
freshwater resource because water is highly vital to our daily life while the supply
of freshwater is limited. As the world population is expanding, so does the gradual
need for freshwater is also increasing. Measures and methodologies to decrease the
water footprint level, soon becoming the need in the consequence of freshwater water
conservation. In an increasingly interconnected yet water-scarce world, this view is
particularly relevant.
Calculation of water footprint
W F P = W F P B + W F P G R

WF B = WF BWE + WF BWI + WF L RF
