① Toxic wastes
Wastes containing toxic substances such as cyanide and organophosphorus compounds, and medical wastes, shall be separately received and stored and then
incinerated.
② Heavy metal wastes
In order to stabilize this type of solid waste, additives are added, and then it is
solidified and finally transported to a security landfill.
③ Acid and alkali wastes
Acid and alkali wastes, especially liquid wastes, often contain heavy metals. After
chemical pretreatment with simple and easy redox and neutralization precipitation
methods, the filtered residue is stabilized/solidified and then landfilled, and the
effluent is treated and used as cooling water for solidification water and incineration
flue gas.
④ Solid inorganic waste
This type of waste mainly consists of glass wool thermal insulation material with
low heat value, which is disposed by landfill after solidification in order to reduce
diffusion and pollution and save operation cost.
⑤ Waste oils
For waste mineral oils which could be recycled, osmotic filtration and distillation
with lower operating costs shall be adopted. The concentrated waste oil will be sent
to the incinerator and can be used as supplementary fuel. Every year, about 4000
tons of waste automobile engine oil and about 4000 tons of acid-free mineral oil are
treated in the disposal center.
⑥ Cyanide-containing wastes subject to surface treatment
This type of waste can be detoxified, stabilized/solidified by adding chemicals to
decompose cyanide, and then transported to the landfill.
⑦ Waste lead-acid battery
This type of waste can be crushed, sorted and desulfurized, recovering lead and
antimony, polypropylene plastics and sulfuric acid, and metal materials can be sent
to a recycled lead plant for smelting, and a small amount of residue can be solidified
and sent to a security landfill.
⑧ Waste organic solvent
The waste solvent with recycling value can be recovered by rectification, and the
distillation residue can be sent to the incinerator for incineration. About 6000 t/year
of waste organic solvent is sent to the disposal center every year. The types of these
waste solvents include alcohols (isopropanol, isobutanol), ketones (acetone, butanone), halides (dichloroethane, dichloroethylene), others (toluene, xylene), etc.
