(a) Refuse dam and leachate collection system
Leachate is directly discharged though many outlets on the refuse dam, and then
flows into the regulation pool through the side ditch. As the ditch is partially
damaged, the leachate is likely to infiltrate and contaminate the groundwater. At the
same time, only the natural evaporation technology is applied to leachate in the
regulation pool, rather than the back-spraying technology as originally designed. As
a result, a large amount of waste floats on the surface, which seriously hinders the
natural evaporation process of leachate. Without standard management, there is a
risk of leachate overflow.
(b) Seepage control system
There is only a small-scale seepage control system for the landfill. No measures are
taken seepage control in front of the dam and for the diversion side ditch.
(c) Interceptor ditch
There is no interceptor ditch in the landfill. Leachate exudation increases with the
area of rainwater collection, while no appropriate leachate treatment measures are
adopted.
(3) Background investigation of groundwater environment
(a) Groundwater exploitation and utilization
According to the field investigation, there is no resident within 500 m of sanitary
protection from the landfill. Groundwater in the hydrogeological units of the landfill
is not used for drinking purpose.
