10.2.8 Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth
The main objective of SDG 8 is to promote decent work as well as inclusive and
sustainable economic growth for all. There is a need to prioritize infrastructure and
long-term economic growth. Diversification and better technology are also required
for reducing youth unemployment and rationalizing a global strategy for solving
unemployment (Sachs 2012). Figure 10.9 shows the annual change in real gross
domestic product per employed person from 2000 to 2016. By 2030, Goal 8 seeks
to develop policies that emphasize the need for sustainable tourism that can result
in the creation of jobs.
