Fig. 5.12 Dependence of storage modulus (G ) on CB/NR vulcanizates. The dashed line is a visual
guide (from Fig. 5 in Ref. [49])
Fig. 5.13 Schematic image of a hydrodynamic interaction between CB aggregate and NR matrix
under deformation and b relationship between G at 293 K and volume fraction (φ CB* ) of CB and
CNIL in region of φ CB* from 0 to 0.3 (from Fig. 13 in Ref. [57])
where 1.48 MPa is G
of the NR vulcanizate without CB (i.e., equivalent to G
0 ), and
φ CB* is the volume fraction of the CB aggregates inclusive of CNIL.
The slope gave not 2.5 (originally in Eq. 2.3) but 3.69, which cannot be quantitatively explained for a moment, but the equation seems to explain up to 20 phr CB
loading qualitatively. In order to include the G
of 40 phr CB-loaded one, the slope
has to be 9.36 as shown by the dotted line, much larger than 3.69. Therefore, the
slope lager than 2.5 suggests some other factors than the hydrodynamic volume effect
