of the Tp double-layer lamellae is between 1.13 and 1.27 g/cm
3 dependent on the
alkyl chain length. This is reasonable for Tp liquid crystals with C12 arms.
XRD was utilized to investigate the H-bond-assisted supramolecular selfassembly in sample 11. Figure 16 shows 2D XRD patterns for sample 11 at different
temperatures during a stepwise cooling process from the melt. At 175
C, all
reflections in the 2D XRD pattern in Fig. 16c can be fitted using an ordered oblique
columnar unit cell with a = 7.88 nm, b = 6.10 nm, and γ = 95
. The 2D XRD
pattern in Fig. 16c showed all reflections on the equator, except for the 0.49 nm
reflection on the meridian, which can be assigned as the ordered stacking distance
Fig. 14 2D XRD patterns for samples (a) 9, (b) 10, and (c) 12 at room temperature. All samples
show an orthorhombic symmetry, and Miller indices for all reflections are shown in the patterns.
Due to the space limitation, all (hk0) reflections are shown as (hk) on the equator (Miao and Zhu
