Preface
First of all, I would like to thank Univ.-Prof. Dr. Nuno Maulide for giving me the
chance to work on this exciting chemistry, for the excellent guidance throughout
my thesis and for teaching me to always keep the big picture in mind.
Big thanks goes to Dr. Christopher Teskey for his continuous support in every
tricky situation from the very first day in the lab until the last day in the office and
for many inspiring discussions about chemistry.
Regarding the project itself, I would like to thank Dr. Pauline Adler and Carlos Goncalves as well as Dr. Daniel Kaiser for the fruitful conversations and their
helpful suggestions.
Additionally, special thanks goes to all members of the Maulide group for the
amazing time inside and outside of the university. Thanks to Martina Drescher,
Mirjam Czuba, Elena Macoratti and Patricia Emberger for helping me, whenever
I had a problem. Also, the big lab including Immo Klose, Giovanni Di Mauro,
Carlos Goncalves, Bogdan Brutiu, Dr. Amandine Pons, Eric Lopes, Dr. Sébastien
Lemouzy and many students need to be thanked for always radiating joy, even
after a long day. Furthermore, thanks goes to my colleagues in the office: Samuel
Senoner, Veronica Tona, Dr. Tobias Stopka, Yong Chen and Lorena Garcia for
the great work environment and helping me through the less exciting parts of research.
Thanks to Dipl. Ing. Alexander Roller for the help with the crystal structure.
At last I would like to thank my friends and family for their exhaustless support!
The results of my master’s thesis which is the basis of this book were partially
published in an open access article. (Gonçalves, C. R.; Lemmerer, M.; Teskey, C.
