5.8 Ferric Reducing Antioxidant Power (FRAP)
From the results, the total FRAP observed significantly increased in DSV plants than
in WOF-, VV-, DSC-, and CF (chemical fertilizer)-grown plants. The total FRAP
observed in C was 44.21 Æ 0.007 mg/g; VV, 42.224 Æ 0.0003 mg/g; DSC,
56.882 Æ 0.0007 mg/g; DSV, 109.472 Æ 0.0003 mg/g; and CF,
42.804 Æ 0.0003 mg/g. The organically grown kacip Fatimah (Labisia pumila
Benth) plant were found to possess higher percentage of FRAP scavenging activities
than the NPK fertilization (Ibrahim et al. 2013). Similarly, FRAP assay for organically produced apples showed a 7–27% of higher antioxidant capacity than the
conventionally produced apples in three comparable farm pairs (FP) in Switzerland
(Stracke et al. 2009).
