4.2.4 Operation Technologies of Waste Collection
and Transportation Equipment
4.2.4.1 Operation Management
1. Waste collection equipment
The collecting boxes (or pools) should be matched with the waste transfer tools.
The waste transfer containers should be sealed to avoid secondary pollution during
the transportation.
2. Waste transfer stations
The stacking and storage of wastes in the transfer stations require to accord with
regulations in standard GB 18599.
The unloading and loading positions in the transport workshops should allow the
return of vehicles.
The dispatch of the whole transfer station should follow the technological process
and be operated orderly.
Specific personnel should be assigned to specific posts in the control room and
others are not allowed to enter the room and use the equipment therein without
permission.
The functions of equipment and facilities in the management room are not allowed
to be changed, and tools should be put at given positions.
The transfer vehicles and presses should be matched.
It should be guaranteed that the waste is transferred on conditions with effective
control over the pollution in a relatively closed environment.
Waste transfer workshops should be equipped with folding doors that are easily
opened and closed and have normally closed vents.
According to the technical design of the waste transfer unit, the ventilation, dust
prevention, and deodorization measures should be strengthened at key positions such
as the loading and unloading locations of wastes in the transfer stations. Large transfer
stations need to be equipped with independent air ventilation and deodorization
systems.
Place around waste transfer stations needs to be clean and has no waste and
sewage, and presents favorable landscaping. Routine fly eradication and disinfection
should be carried out, ensuring that there are no eyesores in front of and within the
sight of a transfer station.
Ground should be plat in waste transfer stations with no deposited sludge retained
and arranged with sewage channels (or pipes). Meanwhile, effective sewage treatment
measures should be taken to avoid secondary pollution.
3. Waste transportation
While rickshaws are used for collecting wastes, the radius for collection should be
within 1 km, not larger than 2 km.
