Complement with Internet Images
The Internet is filled with freely accessible images to complement the other illustrations directly originating from your work. Use Internet images to illustrate concepts, to accompany your spoken words, or to make your slides prettier. Images can
be very effective at expressing complicated concepts.
Similar to the photographs you take yourself (see Sect. 4.1), ensure extract simple images from the Internet. Images must not distract the audience from the main
message of your talk.
• In your search engine, type the concept you are trying to illustrate. You are likely
to be provided with illustration ideas you had not thought of
• Use cliparts. Include the word “clipart” in your search key words
• Favor images with white (or transparent) backgrounds, or black and white (for
instance, silhouettes, see Sect. 4.4)
• Feel free to modify the images, crop them, etc.
