5 Projectile Penetrations into Coarse Aggregated UHPCC Targets
5.2.4 Test Results
In the present tests, 20 shots of projectiles A on UHPCC targets in tests 1–2, and
15 shots of projectiles B on both UHPCC and NSC targets in tests 3–5 were carried
out, respectively. The penetration tests data are listed in Table 5.2 as follows, where
– indicates that the data was not recorded.
5.2.4.1 Target Damage
There are no visible cracks emerged on the rear faces of the total 35 targets, the
damage views of the impacted faces in each test are shown in Figs. 5.5, 5.6, 5.7, 5.8
and 5.9, respectively.
5.2.4.2 Projectile Abrasion and Deformation
During the penetration tests 1–2, for the relatively low striking velocity, projectiles
A were not deformed or damaged, except for some minor abrasions on the projectile
surfaces, as shown in Fig. 5.10a. While in the tests 3–5, for the increased initial
striking velocities, the projectiles exhibited obvious nose-blunting and even bending
or fractures, as shown in Fig. 5.10b–d.
