(3) Tracer method
The tracer substance is directly injected into the flow field as a contrast
medium, or a chemical reaction is used to generate a tracer substance in the
fluid, or an electronic control is used to generate a tracer substance that moves
along with the fluid to make the flow visible. The smoke trace (including
tobacco) method (as shown in Fig. 5.12), the dyeing line method, the
hydrogen bubble method, the helium bubble method, the laser-fluorescence
method, the steam screen method, etc., all belong to the tracer method. Due
to the injection of particles into the fluid, there is a problem of particle
